Hawaii Community CollegeHawaii Community College offers hands-on programs to train students in a wide range of career, technical and academic programs. Students interested in obtaining a bachelor's degree can choose from a variety of Liberal Arts courses, which prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution.

The college began as a vocational school in 1941, and offered trade programs in auto mechanics, carpentry, dressmaking and welding.

New courses were added after World War II, and the school eventually was called a technical school because of its new programs in electronics and nursing.

The name Hawaii Community College became effective in 1979, and is now one of seven community colleges in the state. It serves approximately 2,098 students.

Popular departments include the Applied Technical Education Division, the Construction Technology Department, Transportation & Applied Technology Department, Business Education & Technology Division, Hospitality Division, Liberal Arts Division and the Nursing & Allied Health Division.
